"Album of the year" material and a surprisingly noticeable step-up from their previous full-lengther. This year has brought tons of substance-starved techno albums, with too much focus put on bangers with little to no variation or flow. The sophomore album from Barker & Baumecker subverts all the bog-standard tropes by providing a variation-filled excursion, both in mood and in tempo. The track count is on the lower side, but they allow each track enough room to breathe and morph dynamically, breaking the listeners' expectations at every turn. This in turn also leads to a very listenable, considerate flow and the feeling of coherency, all while retaining the hardness one would (and should!) expect from the Berghain camp.Definitely an album that's not to be missed.
