Australia's Motherslug is a Stoner/Doom band with similarities to many bands of the genre, namely Kyuss, Sleep, Sabbath. However, the band isn't content to sit back on their asses and ride the Riff into oblivion without adding substance. The lyrical content heard within is persuasive, witty, and intuitive; that says a great deal considering most Doom bands hold tight to death and misery, so much so that it easily becomes boring. Heavy handed dirges flow like blood from an open wound throughout this entire album. Further adding to the mystique are the psychedelic nuances that bring to mind the tentacles of our lord, Cthulu, the Mummies Tomb & midnight tales of yore. Not to mention the musicianship is second to none. Rhythmically, Motherslug might have the best rhythm section going in Doom right now with bass riffs in great abundance! Vocally, it doesn't get much better, Slug's vocalist Cam, nails every note without even trying. This album is must hear for fans of the Doom/Stoner genre; if you want it heavy, Motherslug weighs a FUCKING TON!Don't sleep on this album, it's incredible and sure to have a long life on your table!
